PTE daily: Use the sentence around a blank

Dropdown and word-bank blanks are one point each. The words beside the gap usually decide the answer.

Read the whole sentence before you open the menu. The verb, the preposition, or the number next to the gap removes most of the wrong options.

A word bank has extra words. Using a word because it looks academic is a common miss. It has to fit that sentence.

On a listening blank, the transcript on the page is the script. There is no separate audio file.

  • Answer the blank you are sure of first.
  • Then return to the one you skipped.
  • After you submit, note which blank type you missed and do another of that type.

This is a PTE Pro Lab study note. It is not a Pearson or IELTS announcement and not an official score.
