PTE Academic test format

Academic practice on this site follows the three-part shape of the exam. Timers and item counts here are practice settings, not a claim that every live Pearson form matches this page.

Speaking and writing

Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Retell Lecture, Answer Short Question, Summarize Group Discussion, Respond to a Situation, Summarize Written Text, and Write Essay.

Reading

Fill in the blanks from a menu, multiple answers, reorder paragraphs, drag-and-drop blanks, and one-answer multiple choice.

Listening

Summarize spoken text, multiple answers, type-in blanks, highlight the correct summary, one-answer choice, select the missing word, highlight incorrect words, and write from dictation. The script stands in for the recording.
