Speaking & Writing — all question types

On the real test this part takes about 76–84 minutes. Here each row is one original practice template with its own short timer. A personal introduction can appear on the real test as a warm-up. It is not in this list and would not count toward the practice score.

1. Read Aloud

A passage stays on the screen. Read every word into the microphone in one smooth pass. The score counts the script words heard in the recording.

2. Repeat Sentence

You will hear a sentence once. Repeat it exactly into the microphone. The sentence stays hidden until you submit, and the score counts the words that were heard.

3. Describe Image

A chart is on the screen. Describe its main features in order into the microphone.

4. Retell Lecture

Read the lecture on the screen, then explain the main ideas in your own words into the microphone.

5. Answer Short Question

Answer the short question into the microphone in a few words. The score checks the words that were heard.

6. Summarize Group Discussion

The speakers are written on the screen because this set has no audio file. Summarize their main points, opinions, and differences into the microphone.

7. Respond to a Situation

Read the situation on the screen, then explain into the microphone what you would say or do.

8. Summarize Written Text

Read the passage and write its main idea in one sentence. The word limit on this template is 5–75 words.

9. Write Essay

Write 200–300 words with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The form score checks that length. Grammar and ideas are not auto-graded.
