PTE daily: Three points are enough for a retell
A lecture retell should keep the situation, the problem, and the result. Extra detail is optional.
Read the lecture notes and pick three points you can say without looking back. Most people lose the score by trying to retell every sentence.
Speak in your own words. The portal checks that speech was recognised. It does not grade the ideas against a hidden essay.
If you forget a detail, finish the point you are on. Silence while you search for a name is more costly than a shorter retell.
- Underline a who, a problem, and an outcome before you record.
- Retell only those three points.
- Listen to your recording once and notice where you stopped.
This is a PTE Pro Lab study note. It is not a Pearson or IELTS announcement and not an official score.
