PTE daily: Name the chart before the numbers

Describe Image needs a title, the categories, and the figures. A list of numbers with no title is hard to follow.

Start with what the picture is: a bar chart, a line, or a pie, plus the title on the image. Then name the largest and smallest categories.

This speaking task scores recognised speech. It does not give a fake pronunciation score, and it does not check whether your ideas match a model answer.

A clear 40-second description beats a long description that never says what the axes are.

  • Say the chart type and the title in the first sentence.
  • Give the highest figure and the lowest figure.
  • Stop when you have covered the categories. Do not invent a cause the chart does not show.

This is a PTE Pro Lab study note. It is not a Pearson or IELTS announcement and not an official score.
