IELTS daily: Paraphrase the question without changing the task

A paraphrase that alters agree into discuss has answered a different question.

Change the words, not the instruction. “Some people think” can become “Some residents believe”. “Do you agree” must stay a position, not a tour of both sides unless the question asked for both.

Keep the topic nouns. If the question is about public libraries, do not drift into schools unless you need them as an example.

One accurate sentence is a better introduction than three vague ones.

  • Copy the question’s instruction in the margin.
  • Rewrite only the topic sentence in your own words.
  • Check that your position still matches the instruction.
